The recommendation came after concerns arose regarding how Apple communicated the availability of its AI features, initially launched with the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro. This step aims to clarify the confusion surrounding the availability timelines of various Apple Intelligence capabilities including new Siri integrations and other features.

Apple’s journey with AI has been a long and winding road since their ambitious announcement at WWDC 2024. The release of promised features like AI-powered Siri faced delays, with updates pushed into the following year, leaving many eager users in limbo. Now, Apple has taken action to streamline its messaging by executing the NAD’s recommendation to remove potentially misleading advertising claims.

According to the NAD, Apple’s webpage implied that several features—including Priority Notifications, Image Playground, and ChatGPT integration—were available at the launch of the iPhone 16 models, despite these features becoming accessible only with the subsequent release of iOS 18.2. The insufficient clarity in the presented disclosures prompted this call for adjustment.
